THE JAPAN-AMERICA SOCIETY OF MISSISSIPPI

Hanashimasenka |
The Japan-America Society's language and cultural exchange club. The club's purpose is to provide a forum for native Japanese and English speakers to improve their understanding of conversation in each others' language and culture. Hanashimasenka (lit: "Shall we talk?") meets monthly in a relaxed and informal setting. The club's members include speakers of all levels of Japanese and English. Attendees are NOT required to be proficient in more than one language. The only requirement is that you are interested in helping other people understand YOUR native language. Everyone is welcome. Are you (or someone you know) a member of the ever-increasing Japanese community in Mississippi? Perhaps you are a local whose Japanese has become somewhat rusty, or you have just started learning? Are you interested in discussing culture and trends affecting Japan, Mississippi and the U.S.? Or maybe you would just like to expand your circle of Japanese and English speaking friends? If you are Japanese and have trouble understanding Mississippian or if you're a Mississippian and either have some Japanese ability--or are just willing to help a visitor feel more welcome in your community--please let us know how to include you in our monthly meeting announcements. Meetings are held on the second Saturday, every two months, at 4 P.M. unless otherwise noted. For more information, please contact us. |
