2008 Autumn Conferment of Decorations: Government of Japan honors "Paul" Yukio Tashiro | |
The Government of Japan selected Rev. Tashiro for the honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Japanese people in the United States and Japan-U.S. relations. Rev. Tashiro and his wife Eiko recently returned from a visit to Japan, where the two had an audience with His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at the Imperial Palace. Dr. Tashiro received the decoration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo. Rev. Tashiro has worked to strengthen Japan-U.S. relations in Mississippi through the Japan America society and as Academic Dean of the Japanese Supplementary School in Jackson, MS. Rev. To celebrate this occasion, the Mississippi Japan Society, the Japan-America Society of Mississippi and the Consulate-General of Japan in New Orleans will host a reception as follows in honor of Rev.
